We Don’t Only Cry When Things Are Sad — Jason Silva Saturday

“The moment we cry in a film is not when things are sad but when they turn out to be more beautiful than we expected them to be.” – Alain de Button

Ha! I love to keep you guys on your toes! Look! It’s a Saturday morning with Jason.

I have such a fond memory of a ride on the motorcycle in Italy, on a road between Pisa and Lucca, that was so sublime in its perfection; in its unexpected beauty; that it moved us both to tears — simultaneously.

What moves you to tears? Weekends?

Have a great one!

Remember that scene in CITY OF ANGELS when the angel played by Nicholas Cage and the doctor (Meg Ryan) talk about why we cry? He says, “Maybe emotion just becomes so intense your body just can’t contain it.” That has always felt true to me. We overflow!

      Angie,
I loved that movie and I love that philosophy That we “overflow” with emotions! It’s happened to me not only in sadness but in moments of sheer joy, relief and even when something surprises me with how “right” it feels, my eyes can tear up. Amazing. Thankyou! xox

    Wow Jason!
Tears as a balance mechanism for our expected reality versus our perceived reality. So profound, it’s GENIUS.

If you don’t think words are powerful, try: “Ecstatic Signification”…
    Made me cry! Just saying.
