Sonder – The Realization That Everyone Has A Story

Sonder – The Realization That Everyone Has A Story

sonder – n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.

“You may appear only once, as an extra in the background of someone else’s life.”

Tourists are always taking pictures in LA, and I always think about that when I accidentally get caught in one of their photos.

I’m a nameless face in the crowd of their photo of Venice Beach…

Perspective – Makes you think, doesn’t it?

Happy Sunday!

I get sonder when looking down at earth from an airplane.

Me too! Also when I walk at night, because windows are lit up you can get a glimpse, a snapshot into a life. My all time favorites were in Europe. Strolling around Florence at night, past one of the gorgeous centuries old buildings, I stopped to admire the third floor, ornately carved ceiling, when I noticed two woman dancing ballet in full dress. Although I couldn’t hear the music, I stood there a long time – mesmerized.
Another time as we slowed down to pass through a small, charming, Italian town on our motorcycle, at lunch time, I stole a quick glimpse inside an open door, where a woman was turning over a steaming pot of pasta into another pan (to drain I assume).
Great snapshots inside those people’s stories.
